Sore Joints and Muscles : Overview
Muscle cramps:
Although muscle cramps are harmless & do not cause any injury, few things are as painful as muscle cramps. Cramps are also called spasms & they mostly affect the foot & the calf muscles in the leg. They mostly occur when you are resting at night as well as when you playing or exercising. Nocturnal calf cramps mostly occur at night when you are resting as a result of contracting the calf muscles by suddenly pointing your toes. This is mostly seen in swimmers who kick the water with their pointed feet. One more type of cramp is athletes’ cramps which mostly occur during exercise session. It happens due to lack of potassium & sodium in blood as well as dehydration. It may also happen because of muscle fatigue. The best options to treat cramps are massage & stretching of the affected area.
Fibromyalgia:
Fibromyalgia is a problem that affects both the joints & its surrounding muscles. It primarily happens because of rheumatoid arthritis or lupus. Other reasons for fibromyalgia may include sleeping disorders, headache, fatigue, anxiety & depression. But the exact reasons for fibromyalgia are still unknown. Although fibromyalgia is not a very serious problem, it should be taken care of in the early stages. If it is left untreated for a long time then it can get worse & seriously affect the muscles & tissues around the affected area. Therefore, prevention is always the best option in case of fibromyalgia. People who have undergone great trauma & depression in their lives are mostly prone to fibromyalgia.
Arthritis:
Arthritis is another major problem that cause sore joints and muscles. The typical symptoms of arthritis are swelling, stiffness, tenderness & pain. Arthritis primarily happen because of wear & tear suffered by particular bone joints from excessive use. Arthritis affects people of all age groups, but the elderly are most vulnerable to suffering from arthritis.
Menopause:
Women experience sore joints and muscles, and sore tendons during their menopause days. This happens because the body of a woman goes through certain hormonal changes during this time. Lack of calcium & other minerals may cause the bone joints to ache. It would not be wise to ignore these pains. Ignoring these problems could lead to arthritis in the future. That is why, early treatment is required for both complete cure as well as prevention.
